338The American jewelry revolution 1940-1960
This thesis explores the inspirations and passions which transform my ideas into physical forms. My thesis work is the integration of the visual, the tactile and my personal spiritual search through my experiences with nature. As an artist, it is important for me to represent a visual balance, combined with tactile qualities, to create a sense of movement. This is achieved by layering metals such as copper, sterling silver and brass. In combination with the traditional metalsmithing techniques of embossing, granulation, anticlasitic forming and raising, I create work which has life and takes the viewer on a visual journey. The visual balance and sense of movement is created with various openings that pierce the metal, and also by playing with space and the asymmetry of form. I combine shapes, which have been stretched and textured. Finally, the pieces are soldered together to create rushing, exciting movement. I combine my vision of distant shores, the eyes of aspen trees and my interest in visual illusions and texture to create my metal work.

This magazine is formed by a collection of materials dedicated to the relationship between the visual arts and other media. Don't show paintings or sculptures, but printed documents which testify not only the climate and environment of well-known artistic events, but present themselves as autonomous artifacts. The music, queen immaterial, in the twentieth century, is the ability to take the body through unusual objects contend that the visual art scene: Harry Bertoia and Sonambients, is one such example.

324L'ingegneria civile di Edgardo Contini. Edgardo Contini was born in Ferrara, Italy in 1914. Migrated to the US in 1939. He spent some time in MI during 1943, where he was naturalized. At Cranbrook he met Harry Bertoia. Following World War II, he worked with various firms in Los Angeles, CA. He and another European Jewish immigrant, Victor Gruen (1903-1980) founded the important architecture and planning firm, Gruen Associates in 1951; during the 1950s-1960s, Gruen Associates became highly influential in retail architecture, particularly in the design of suburban shopping malls and downtown urban renewal planning. In 1945 he collaborated with Eames and Eero Saarinen on two projected case study houses (#8 and #9) for the magazine Arts and Architecture.Fausto GiovannardiPrivate publisherPDFBOOKScranbrook, eames, saarinen

By 1943, Entenza and his art director Alvin Lustig had completely overhauled the magazine and renamed it Arts and Architecture, championed all that was new in the arts, with special emphasis on emerging modernist architecture in Southern California.
